Look out Adelaide! Here she comes

Comedy on the Rox's Kathryn Bendall is off to Adelaide in March with her first one-woman show Kath On A Hot Tin Roof. Directed by leading improv comic Rebecca De Unamuno, Kath On A Hot Tin Roof is the hilarious, poignant and ironic story of a suburban mother of three. Over 58 long hot summers, Kathryn has leapt from one hot tin roof to another, delerious most of the time and hanging on as long as she can. A very late bloomer on the comedy circuit, Kathryn draws on her life experiences including her sponsorship by an “Underbelly” crime figure into local government; an executive management career in a national financial institution while secreting her fear of flying, crossing bridges, snakes, toads and driving; and managing volunteers at Sydney 2000 Olympics, APEC and World Youth Day.Kathryn will stage her preview show at the Roxbury on Saturday February 21 at 6pm.

There's no comedy night like Red Card Comedy and it returns to the Roxbury Hotel on Saturday September 26.

With Red Card Comedy the audience surprises start from the moment the audience members pick up their tickets and continue until the final gong clangs.

An Australian first, it is a sophisticated gong show with 17 up-and-coming comics each trying to keep their audience laughing for five minutes.

Three random audience members are given red cards.

When two of the three judges hold up their red cards, the comic is gonged off.

Other audience members are encouraged to get involved, urging the judges to put up their cards, or if the comic is a favorite, to take them down.

Last man (or woman) standing is the winner.

In the event of a tie, there will be a comedy shootout to determine which comic takes home the loot.

September's contestants are:

  • Luke Olley
  • Ben McLeod
  • Paul Stradbrook
  • Joseph Del Duca
  • Des Smith
  • Danny Morgan
  • David Buckingham
  • Leon Joseph
  • Cyrus Bezyan
  • Kathryn Bendall
  • John Cruckshank
  • Julia Clark
  • Ray Badran
  • Joe Mifsud
  • Mick Bradley
  • Rich 'N' Thick 'N' Creamy
  • Michele Betts
It promises to be a great night of fun, frivolity and audience interaction.
